Mairsil the Pretender

The original sketch for Mairsil had him with a less traditionally attractive face. The idea being that all the features were beyond natural in their beauty, to the point of being almost ferocious. I drew a lot from plastic surgery addicts.

An ancient villain in the MTG universe. I loved doing his fancy goth band outfit. Also, he has full on "fuck you" cheek bones. Hahaha!

He was assigned as a man, but I kinda imagined him as a touch more "aging gender fluid." I drew from some friends, and artists in the community to inspire some of the make-up, pose, proportion, and expression.

When I'm given characters to paint, I can't help but try to inject some story, or narrative. It helps inspire hints and ideas that I might not have come up with initially.
